Vocational Services outlines Youth Summer program; Special Olympics participation doubles

Will Kline, Vocational Services Manager, reported the State sub-minimum wage recertification was completed and described the department’s Youth Summer program. After reviewing CLTS cases, 21 youth were selected to participate who are transitioning into the Family Care Program; two additional youth who have already transitioned will also participate, bringing the total to 23. Kline said 11 staff members have been hired so far and recruitment continues for one additional staff member.
Kline also said the Special Olympics regional competition is May 9, 2026 in Colby, Wisconsin, and the Summer Games will be held June 5, 2026 at the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater; Oconto County expects 16 participants, up from eight last year.
