Opioid-abatement committee approves after-prom grants to local groups

County Administrator Richard Heath and Public Health Officer Jaelyn Scanlan updated the board on the Opioid Abatement Ad Hoc Steering Committee. At the last committee meeting the group approved a $1,000 grant for the Oconto Afterglow Committee to support after-prom activities and approved an identical award for Lena High School; both grants mark a second consecutive year of funding.
Scanlan and Heath said CESA #8 has completed one of five planned educational videos, and the presenters reported positive feedback from school audiences where speakers have appeared. The committee scheduled its next meeting for April 30, 2026 to consider remaining projects and further outreach.
