Committee holds CB-63-2024 on drug enforcement special revenue fund after overview

Staff presented CB-63-2024, which would adjust appropriations from the Drug Enforcement and Education Special Revenue Fund and specify how seized property proceeds would be deposited and distributed. "The intent of this legislation is adjusting the appropriation of 65% of the Drug Enforcement and Education Special Revenue Fund and providing that a certain portion of those dollars in that fund shall be appropriated to the office of the sheriff to finance costs associated with the administration of drug enforcement and education activities," said Mister Tutt, summarizing draft 2 and the policy and fiscal analysis statement.
Mister Tutt said the draft reserves 15% of the dollars for appropriation to the Office of the Sheriff and proposed that 50% be appropriated to the Prince George's County Police Department for law enforcement activities. After a brief exchange, a motion was made to hold the bill indefinitely and the committee voted to hold CB-63-2024 (motion carries 4-0). No formal fiscal objections were recorded at the hearing; the committee directed additional study and no further action was taken at the meeting.
