The Lake Shore Board of Education voted unanimously to approve participation in the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) for Lake Shore High School and Kennedy Middle School for the 2025-26 membership year (Aug. 1, 2025, through July 31, 2026).
The motion was made by Susan DeLong and seconded by Amber Hildebrand and passed 7-0. President Kurt Ziegler said he had researched MHSAA and noted that “the medical things covered for students are good,” and Superintendent Dr. DiPonio added the district could not participate in state championships without membership. The resolution was recorded in the meeting minutes with unanimous support.
No dissenting comments or amendments to the resolution were recorded in the public meeting.
