The Lake Shore Board of Education approved several curriculum adoptions at its June 23 meeting, covering high school and middle school course materials.
The board adopted the McGraw Hill U.S. Government & Civics curriculum for Lake Shore High School; Mrs. Stephenson confirmed it includes a classroom set of books and digital resources. The board also approved Perfection Learning AP Language and AP Literature materials for LSHS, a Spanish V course, Kennedy Middle School’s Career Explorations course, and SAVVAS myPerspectives grades 6-8 ELA and associated professional development. Each motion passed on unanimous 7-0 votes.
Board members asked clarifying questions about staffing and student demand; Mrs. Stephenson told the board a cohort of students had requested Spanish V and confirmed existing offerings include German and Spanish. Amy Thomas-August and others voiced support for the Career Explorations course as important for middle-school students' future planning.
