Commission asks staff to draft ordinance on rear-yard and side-yard setbacks near nonresidential uses

Under Item 3 the commission considered proposed amendments to Article 14 of the City of Lucas Code of Ordinances related to districts, supplementary regulations and accessory structures. Mr. Childress said earlier discussion had considered side-yard setbacks and that he now wanted the commission's direction on adding a 75-foot rear-yard setback for residential lots adjacent to nonresidential uses.
"I went back and listened to recordings of the previous meetings," Mr. Childress said, and he described the background of the proposal and minor items the drafting team had missed when they initially wrote the ordinance language. Several commissioners indicated they had read the proposal and asked Mr. Childress to bring back a formal ordinance for the commission to consider.
