Superintendent reports nominations, awards, staffing meetings and publication cost rise

Superintendent Jamie Kraatz updated the board on district‑level items during the March 10 meeting. Kraatz said three teachers from Saginaw Township Community Schools are nominated for the Golden Apple award and that Amy Rousseau was recognized as a STEM‑STAR and received a $250 donation. Kraatz said Unified Pledge Week began with themed spirit days and that March is Reading Month; she invited board members to sign up if they wish to read to classrooms.
Kraatz also reported that staffing meetings for the 2025–26 school year were held with each building to post openings and fill positions promptly, and that the STCS Connections publication will see a cost increase of $3,900 per year because of tariffs. She noted that a Kindergarten Information Night introduced the STCS class of 2038 and that Ashly Bennick from Weiss was interviewed on WSGW regarding student behavior and intervention.
