Superintendent reports pool work, staffing changes, anti-bullying policy and community events

Superintendent Jamie Kraatz provided a multi-part district update. She said a pre-bid walkthrough for the Sherwood Pool was held last week and that the pool project is moving forward as planned. Kraatz also reported a pool consultant inspected the Heritage High School pool to find a leak; the consultant plans to shut the pool for a week and slowly add water to identify the source.
Kraatz said she intends via right-of-assignment to place Tony Premo permanently as District Athletic Director and that a press release about the athletic department will follow. A posting for Heritage Assistant Principal will be posted soon. She reported the district submitted its anti-bullying policy to the state and described programs in place including "OK‑To‑Say," restorative practices, assemblies, social workers and annual staff training. Kraatz also noted the Night of Appreciation is scheduled for March 11 with presenter Gerry Brooks, and that staff are working on an enrollment yard‑sign campaign. Steve Elliott is pursuing a Saginaw Community Foundation grant for women’s showers at Sherwood Elementary.
