Santoria Shepherd, president of the Farmington Area African American Parent Network (FAAPN), presented an update on the group's mission and planned initiatives during the Jan. 7 meeting. Shepherd said FAAPN is a "community-driven, district-supported organization for all Farmington/Farmington Hills School district students" and outlined upcoming offerings.
Shepherd listed planned efforts including free Saturday tutoring, SAT/ACT workshops, parent general meetings and workshops, and collaboration with FPS Parent IDEA to increase parent engagement and student supports. Board members commented and staff answered questions; the item was presented for information and no board action was taken.
