Streets division requests tack machine, larger roller and mulcher attachment in FY26-27 budget

Rico asked the council to consider CIP purchases to increase in-house capacity and reduce contracted work: a tack machine to improve asphalt adhesion, a mulcher/mower skid-steer attachment to reduce labor and chainsaw reliance, a larger steel roller to match the laydown machine and a ground-line stripe removal unit to remove old striping more cleanly. He provided approximate costs in the presentation and said crews have already completed roughly 641 pothole repairs this fiscal year.
Council members asked about equipment sizing and durability; Rico said the requested roller would be larger than the current unit and that the mulcher would still allow chainsaw use when necessary. No vote was required on the budget presentation; the requests will be considered in the CIP/budget process.
