Council approves design agreement for 24-inch sewer main near FM 1570

Greenville's City Council on Tuesday approved an ordinance authorizing a professional services agreement with Dunaway for the design of a 24-inch gravity sewer main near FM 1570, a project city staff said will run roughly 5,500 linear feet and position the city to serve new wholesale customers and additional development.
"What you see before you is the design of a 24-inch, sewer main, down near 1570," Summer Spurlock said during discussion. She told the council a developer will bear the additional portion to serve up toward 2130 and that the connection at the 1570 lift station has verified capacity. Jacob Dupuy of Dunaway told the council he would expect about six months for design work, including surveying, with roughly 10 months of construction afterward.
Spurlock said the work is sized to accommodate future growth and noted the city has confirmed the receiving lift station was built with future capacity. She said funding for the design will come from interest savings on the 2024 bond and savings from the industrial park project. After brief questions about alignment across the new overpass and TxDOT coordination, Councilmember (motion maker) moved to approve. The motion passed unanimously.
The council did not record individual roll-call votes in the transcript; staff said the design contract will be brought forward for scheduling and later construction procurement once design is complete.
