Jaime Shanks of EPEDC reported to the Plevna Town Council that the lagoon sewer project has a firm completion deadline of Dec. 31, 2025 and that the town has had trouble getting responses from Brosz Engineering. "The Lagoon project does have to be completed by December 31, 2025," Shanks said during public comment, noting that both town staff and EPEDC contacts have tried to reach the engineering firm with no return communication.
Shanks said she is drafting an application for the MCEP sewer grant and described the program's 20% local-match requirement. She estimated the overall project at about $40,000 and stated that a 20% match would be roughly $8,000, adding that the Town can apply for a hardship to cover the match. Councilmembers asked that EPEDC and town staff continue outreach to engineering partners and pursue grant options, including previously discussed CDBG opportunities. The discussion was recorded as an informational update; no formal contract award or engineering agreement was approved at the meeting.
