The council's BZ & E committee recommended placing two school parking items on the consent agenda. The use permit 26-0443 would add 31 parking spaces at Hall School on 2001 Heather Drive, bringing the lot to 96 spaces, and the rezone/conditional use 26-0448/26-0449 would allow Freeman Elementary at 134 South Glenwood Place to expand by 25 spaces.
Alderman Franco thanked School District 129 and said, "Both of these schools are in the 5th Ward, and I'd like to thank school district 1 29," noting older schools frequently lacked adequate parking and that incremental steps to expand parking were welcome. Both items were placed on the consent agenda for the council's consideration.
