The Robertson County Commission voted Sept. 16 to amend the county accounting policy, changing the single-purchase threshold from $10,000 to $25,000.
Commissioner Bobby Hogan presented the change and said, "In essence, we're moving from a $10,000 limit to a $25,000 limit." Supporters noted the last threshold was set in 2010 and that inflation has reduced the purchasing power of $10,000, making the higher threshold more practical for current capital purchases. The commission approved the change by recorded vote.
Proponents said the adjustment would reduce paperwork and speed procurement for schools and departments facing higher equipment and construction costs; opponents had the option to pull the resolution for further consideration but the motion passed as presented.
