The Robertson County Commission recognized Robertson County CASA for two decades of advocacy during its Sept. 16 meeting and heard from a CASA representative who described the program's work with children in foster care.
A CASA representative explained the volunteer role in court cases and told commissioners, "The CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate." The speaker described volunteers as the child's "eyes and ears for the judge," saying CASA volunteers often identify educational or therapy needs and remain involved across lengthy cases. The commission lauded the volunteers and approved a proclamation recognizing CASA's 20 years of service.
Commissioners and the speaker emphasized CASA's primarily volunteer workforce and encouraged community members to support training and recruitment to sustain advocacy for children in the foster-care system.
