Commission submits appraiser designation rule to clarify assessor training and designation requirements

Commissioner Rebecca Rockwell presented amendments to the appraiser designation program (R884-24P-19), saying the changes "modify and clarify the education, training, designation, and continuing education requirements that must be complied with for an individual within a county assessor's office or the property tax division to be authorized to value real or personal property for purposes of ad valorem property taxation." Rockwell also said the amendments "establish training, education, and designation requirements that must be obtained by an individual elected to the office of county assessor."
Rockwell thanked staff and counties for input and described the work as "a labor of love," noting extensive drafting and consultation with the property tax division and counties. She moved to submit the proposed amendments for publication; the motion passed unanimously on roll call.
