Tax Commission submits electronic-meetings rule for publication after 2024 Legislature changes

Rockwell said: "During the 20 24 general session, the legislature passed House Bill 36, Open and Public Meetings Act, which authorized a public body to adopt rules governing public meetings where all members of the public body attend through an electronic connection." The amendments, Rockwell said, would "provide the ability for a public commission meeting to be held where all commissioners are attending remotely through electronic means" and specify how a quorum is determined when members attend remotely.
Chair Valentine called for a roll call vote; the motion passed unanimously. The commission directed staff to submit the rule for publication in the Utah State Bulletin with a public comment period to follow.
