The Albert Lea Public School District board on Feb. 18 approved a contract to hire David Krenz as interim superintendent while the district continues its search for a permanent superintendent. The contract specifies 60 contracted days between Jan. 27 and June 30, 2025, carries a salary of $44,100 and may be extended beyond 60 days or end earlier if a permanent hire is made.
Chair Dave Klatt told the board that Krenz had begun visiting every school building and engaging with teachers; board members described his approach as steady and communicative. The motion to approve the interim superintendent contract was made by Kim Nelson and seconded by Neal Skaar and carried on a 6-0 vote.
