Alexandria board adopts multiple district policies, immediately enacts safety and literacy rules
Summary
The board adopted Policy 514 (Bullying Prohibition) and Policy 524/453 (Internet & Technology Acceptable Use), and immediately enacted policies including overdose medication (516.5), school meals (534), Literacy and the Read Act implementation (621), transportation (707/709), disposition of obsolete materials (802), and crisis management (806).
Alexandria Public Schools’ board adopted several policy updates and immediately enacted additional policies during its Aug. 18 meeting. Among formal adoptions were Policy 514 (Bullying Prohibition) and Policy 524/453 concerning acceptable use of internet, technology and cell phones.
Under authority of Policy 208, Article IV.D, the board also immediately adopted a set of policies intended to address safety and operational readiness, including Policy 516.5 (Overdose Medication), Policy 621 (Literacy and the Read Act), and transportation‑related policies 707 and 709. The adoptions were approved as part of the Consent Agenda and carried on a unanimous (5–0) vote.
