Superintendent Dr. Stiles Simmons updated the Westwood Community School District Board on progress across five strategic goal areas — academics and programs, learning environment and culture, personnel and leadership, facilities and operations, and finance. He reported specifically that "the integration of Generative AI into the District's K-12 education program is going well," and said the AI Task Force, led by Assistant Superintendent Melanie Depray Learst, is focused on helping educators teach students to interact with and responsibly use AI technology.
Dr. Simmons also reported continued work on PBIS at the elementary level, ongoing MICIP and building-level school improvement team activity to address student achievement, completion of summer construction projects with additional design work for summer 2026 bond projects underway, and that the district's financial audit report will be presented at the Nov. 13, 2025 regular meeting.
