On May 12 the Union City Community Schools Board of Education approved two related policy actions: repeal of its NEOLA School Board Policies (excluding the current bullying policy 5517.01) and adoption of Thrun Policies (excluding Policy 5207, anti-bullying). Both motions were recorded as carried 5–0.
Jeremy Steele moved to repeal the NEOLA policies; the motion was seconded by Andrew Yockey and recorded as approved. Jennifer Gautsche moved to adopt the Thrun policies (excluding the anti-bullying provision), seconded by Jeremy Steele; that motion also passed unanimously. The minutes list the policy actions but do not include the text of the replacement policies or rationale for the exclusions. Board minutes show the bullying policies (NEOLA 5517.01 and Thrun 5207) were explicitly excluded from the actions taken.
District officials or staff are responsible for publishing the adopted policy language and advising staff of any operational changes resulting from the new policy set.
