Council seeks updated facade grant criteria; staff to provide draft for review

Council members revisited facade grants near the end of the meeting and asked for an update on program criteria, percent coverage and maximum dollar amounts. Staff said it would try to have an updated draft for the council to review next week but warned that getting the material out to businesses for feedback will take longer.
“I can shoot and try and have an updated version for consideration next week,” staff said, adding that distribution to businesses and collecting feedback may require additional time. Council members asked whether past approaches (sign grants at 100% and facade grants at 80% or 50%) would guide the new criteria and pressed staff for clear maximum amounts and detailed percentages.
Staff said it would seek Heritage Commission input and circulate a draft for council comment before wider distribution; no final decisions were made at the meeting.
