District updates: bus tablet rollout delayed by equipment issues; Parent Camp planned Jan. 25

Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operations Rebecca Scicluna updated the board on transportation: six bus drivers completed Stop Finder training but nine buses still require tablet mounts, a process with lead time because mounts must be permanently installed and pass state inspections. Scicluna said two buses remain damaged from a previous parking-lot collision and the district is operating two spare buses temporarily without tablets.
Dr. Laura Carino, Assistant Superintendent of Talent Management and Development, described the district’s Third Annual Parent Camp scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 25, from 9 a.m. to noon at Novi High School. The event, produced with the Novi Mental Health Alliance, will offer breakfast, childcare and a keynote by Dominic Frisina of the Positivity Project; breakout sessions will address raising resilient children. Dr. Carino also reminded trustees that WIDA testing for English learners is scheduled for Feb. 11 and will require in-district attendance for those students.
