Superintendent Benjamin Mainka told trustees the district learned that PowerSchool, the student information system, suffered a cyberattack that affected data across multiple districts. "Our data was compromised along with thousands and thousands of other school districts across the country and world," Mainka said. He said district IT protocols and internal frameworks held, but that PowerSchool is working to resolve the incident and the district will share updates with families as they become available.
Mainka linked the incident to broader cybersecurity trends affecting large institutions and said the district will provide further information to parents and staff once PowerSchool’s remediation work is complete. No operational failures in district systems or internal protocol breakdowns were reported in the meeting.
