Two trustees sworn in; Ruskin elected board president in organizational meeting

The Novi Community School District Board of Education ceremonially administered the Oath of Office to Mary Ann Roney and Jamie Kliebert following certification of the Nov. 5, 2024 election results. The oath recited at the meeting reads in part: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of this State and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of Member of the Board of Education of Novi Community School District, Michigan, according to the best of my ability." Mary Ann Roney was sworn in by Novi Mayor Justin Fisher; Jamie Kliebert was sworn in by Superintendent Benjamin Mainka.

The board then conducted its annual organizational business. Danielle Ruskin was elected board president, Paul Cook was elected vice president, Jason Michener was elected secretary and Mary Ann Roney was elected treasurer. Each officer election was decided by roll call vote with the full board recorded as voting in favor (Ayes 7, Nays 0). The board also approved a motion to amend the agenda earlier in the meeting to move the Washington, D.C., field trip from the Consent Agenda to Information and Discussion so trustees could debate its costs.

The ceremonial oath and officer elections set the board’s leadership and administrative designations for 2025. Trustees received tokens of appreciation from district administrators during the meeting.
