Westwood board rates superintendent "effective," unanimously extends contract to June 2029

The Westwood Community School District Board of Education on Dec. 9 used the Michigan Association of School Boards evaluation instrument to rate Superintendent Dr. Stiles Simmons "effective," and voted unanimously to extend his contract through June 30, 2029. Treasurer Roderick Means moved the rating and Trustee Narabia Little seconded; the motion to adopt the rating passed 6-0.
An added motion, also moved by Means and seconded by Little, extended Dr. Simmons' contract until June 30, 2029; the motion passed unanimously, 6-0. Dr. Simmons thanked the board for the positive evaluation and said the district is “making good progress” and he is pleased to be part of it. The Board conducted the evaluation in closed session and returned to open session later the same evening.
