At its June 23 meeting, the Union City Community Schools Board approved multiple personnel appointments, policy changes and organizational resolutions in a series of motions recorded in the minutes.
Personnel and staffing actions included acceptance of the retirement of Food Service Director Deb McDowell and approval to hire Jamey Cerka-Wilks as the new Food Service Director. The board also accepted a coaching recommendation from Athletic Director Hayley Denney. All personnel motions passed by recorded vote(s) of 4—or, 0 gainst.
The board repealed the NEOLA Anti-Bullying Policy (5517.01) and adopted the Thrun Anti-Bullying Policy (5207). The board also approved the School of Choice resolution for 2025'6 and renewed membership in the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA).
The board approved the UCEA—EA-MEA labor contract for 2025'8 as presented. Each of these items was moved and seconded according to the minutes and carried by unanimous recorded votes. No public comment was recorded on these items.
