Union City board adopts 2025–26 budget, authorizes note issuance and millage request

The Union City Community Schools Board of Education approved the district—udget for 2025–26 and a 2024–25 budget amendment at its June 23 meeting. Business Manager Sara Leson presented both proposals before the board voted to adopt the resolutions.
The board also approved a resolution authorizing issuance of notes in anticipation of state school aid for 2025–26 to assist cash-flow needs, and approved the 2025 Tax Millage Rate Request Report (L-4029). The millage request asks to levy the allowable portion of the district—8.000 mills on non-homestead and non-qualified agricultural property (noted in the packet as currently 17.3139 mills) on December 1, 2025, and an amount not to exceed the allowable portion of the 4.5 mills authorized by voters for sinking fund millages (currently noted as 2.9892 mills) on December 1, 2025.
All motions related to the budgets, note authorization and millage request were made by Archie Mears and seconded by either Paul Arlt or Andrew Yockey and passed by recorded votes of 4—or, 0 gainst (board members voting in favor: Mears, Yockey, Arlt, LaBar). The approvals are recorded as formal board resolutions in the meeting minutes and will be included in the district—iles for audit and submission to the county where required.
The board also approved renewal of the district thletic association membership (MHSAA) for 2025—oard year. No public comments were made during the public hearing on the proposed budgets.
