Superintendent Magee: county office to lead CISC conference; paraeducator staffing to start next year fully staffed

Superintendent Nancy Magee thanked staff for the End of School Year Celebration and the Volunteer Recognition event and said the County Office team visited Monterey to prepare for next year’s statewide Curriculum and Improvement Support Committee (CISC) Conference, which SMCOE will organize under Deputy Superintendent Marco Chávez’s leadership. Magee said the team met with Fresno County Office of Education staff to review last year’s event as part of planning the upcoming conference.
Magee also told the Board that, for the first time in recent memory, the next school year will start fully staffed with paraeducators in court, community, and special education settings. She credited the Classification and Compensation Study and changes with Bargaining Unit 158 — including salary adjustments — with helping to build a stronger substitute pool and improve daily instruction quality.
