The South Fayette Township Planning Commission on July 23 recommended the township’s proposed zoning ordinance amendments and map changes for board consideration and a scheduled public hearing.
Staff explained the package includes two rezones (one in the Sturgeon area and one to create a PED district for a highway‑front property), and a text amendment increasing the minimum lot width in the R‑1 district (public sewer lots) from 110 to 125 feet. Staff said the ordinance had been split from a larger draft that previously included other zoning changes and that this version does not address data-center definitions.
A public hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 12; staff said notices were mailed last week to owners of affected properties and to adjoining owners within a 300‑foot radius, and that property postings would be visible at the site. The commission voted to recommend the ordinance for approval and to forward it for public hearing; the motion carried by voice vote.
Next steps: staff will continue to coordinate with county review comments (if received before the hearing) and will present the ordinance at the Aug. 12 public hearing for board consideration.
