Committee approves two probation officers for free active-shooter training in Oriskany

Probation Director Dan Boucher requested committee approval to send two probation officers to an Initial Response to Active Shooter training at the New York State Preparedness Training Center in Oriskany on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. Boucher said the training "creates the chaos and stress of an actual scenario" and is being paid for by state and federal Homeland Security funds; training and lodging will be free to the county. The committee approved the overnight travel request; the motion was moved by Mr. Hahn, seconded by Mr. Baker and adopted.
Boucher said he anticipates sending additional officers to this training in the future as part of ongoing preparedness efforts. The committee record notes the request was not part of the current annual travel plan but will be included in future planning.
