Councilwoman Promise Miller told the April 7 meeting she had shared photo messages showing trash blown into a resident Shirley Miller’s yard from neighboring property and said conditions that had been cleaned previously have returned. She urged the council to begin enforcing the town's public-nuisance rules for trash and junk vehicles.
Clerk/Treasurer Ashley Martin produced copies of letters sent to multiple residents in April 2023 about trash and junk vehicles; the council agreed it would be helpful to take new photographs for current documentation and to send enforcement letters by certified mail. Mayor Gary Thielen relayed advice he had received from Rich Menger that the town could give residents 30 days to clean up, then begin $50-per-day fines; after 30 days the town could hire a cleanup crew and assess the bill to the property owner and, if unpaid, to the owner's taxes.
