Daviess County pledges $200,000 match for West Boggs park grant; approves new staff and wage increases

Nathan Rihm presented the park plan, saying the scope includes a new office and three new restrooms and that the LWCF opportunity is a 50/50 grant match for projects ranging from $250,000 to $2 million. The council voted to provide $200,000 in county matching funds to pair with Martin County's $200,000 commitment.
Council also approved personnel changes tied to park operations. Members voted to create a full-time office manager position at a salary of $58,000 plus benefits (pending approval by county commissioners). The council approved raising salaries for the Activity Director and Customer Service Manager to $58,000 and increased the hourly pay for a part-time grant writer from $25 to $36.
Council members framed the actions as steps to make the park project grant-ready. The funding commitment and staffing decisions move the project toward formal grant application and subsequent construction, subject to grant award and commissioners’ approval of the new position.
