The New Buffalo Area Schools Board of Education elected new officers at its regular meeting on Jan. 13. Lisa Werner was elected board president after a nomination by Vanessa Thun and a second by Jennifer Summers, and the board immediately turned the meeting over to Werner.
Denise Churchill was elected vice president after a nomination by Thun and support from Summers. Vanessa Thun was elected secretary following a nomination from Summers and a second from Churchill. John Haskins was elected treasurer after a nomination by Churchill and a second from Thun. Each officer election was decided by roll-call vote, recorded as unanimous (7-0).
The elections concluded a brief officer-nomination period listed on the agenda. The board made the appointments by formal motions and roll-call votes; no dissenting votes were recorded. The new leadership team will carry out regular duties and preside over upcoming board business and committee work.
