The Vineyard City Council voted June 23 to approve a fee waiver for a Latino Festival proposed for September 19 at Vineyard Grove Park, waiving approximately $3,035 in field and permit fees for an event organizers said could draw thousands.
Organizer Denise Abadiviezo, a Vineyard resident, told the council the group previously drew roughly 2,500–3,000 attendees at a prior event and expects a similar turnout. "We we were counting about 3,000," she said. Organizers proposed a multi-hour festival with performances, about 20 vendors and several food trucks and said they will apply for mass-gathering permits and arrange portable toilets, hand-washing stations and deputies for the event day.
Staff and council discussed logistics, including the number of porta-potties and sheriff presence. Staff recommended approval, and one council member asked the city social-media team to partner on promotion and outreach to boost participation and civic engagement. The council motioned and approved the waiver; staff noted organizers cover vendor fees and many event production costs.
The waiver includes field rental and deposit waived for a one-day community festival; organizers indicated they will collaborate with the city on outreach and safety planning ahead of the September date.
