Vernal trims WUI draft map to six parcels, schedules Jan. 27 public open house

Staff revised the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) draft map to reduce affected areas from 14 to 6 parcel-specific boundaries and removed Ashley Creek Apartments and Escalante Drive from consideration. Assistant City Manager Braeden Christofferson told the Council that revisions to the draft Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) map reduced the number of affected areas from fourteen to six and limited boundaries to parcel-specific areas. He said Ashley Creek Apartments and Escalante Drive were removed from consideration and that adjacent parcels would not be impacted under the revised draft.
Christofferson announced staff will host a public open house on Jan. 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at City Hall to present the revised map and answer questions; no decisions will be made at that meeting. He said the item is anticipated to return to Council in early February following public feedback.
