Multiple members of Poulsbo’s business community and nonprofit partners used the workshop’s public-comment period to underline the importance of including local businesses in Front Street planning and to describe the local entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Sandy Colvanes (HDPA member and downtown business owner) said the HDPA will form a parking committee to work with the city and urged staff to prioritize minimizing downtown impacts during construction. Elena Eimbach (Vibe Co Works) described how SBDC and KEDA-funded programs are creating an ecosystem that channels people into entrepreneurship supports, and she said a newly funded local run of an existing program will expand training opportunities. Arbor (Kitsap Community Resources) reported that services scaled from serving 30–40 entrepreneurs to roughly 200 and described a recent Community Reinvestment Project that allocated $900,000 across Kitsap County, of which $250,000 supported small-business grants distributed as $5,000 awards.
Commenters welcomed the city’s continued investment in the SBDC and KEDA and offered to coordinate with staff as the Front Street outreach proceeds. Council acknowledged those offers and said the city will draw on HDPA and other business representatives during design and outreach phases.
