PSC recognizes water and wastewater operators, plays statewide video of operators' work

The Mississippi Public Service Commission read and adopted a resolution recognizing the state’s water and wastewater operators during national Water Quality Month, praising their continuous, often physically demanding work to treat and deliver safe water.
Commissioners highlighted workforce recruitment successes and the heavy demands of operations. Commissioner Carr noted recent certifications of younger operators in Harrison County and said it was encouraging that “our young folks are stepping up into our industry.” Commissioner Stamps emphasized pay and the need to ensure operators are compensated for difficult and sometimes hazardous work.
The commission played a recognition video featuring operators who introduced themselves and described their roles. In the video, Bill Relidge said, “My name is Bill Relidge. I'm on the rural water board,” and Josh Anderson identified himself as “with Shady Grove Water” and vice president of the board for Mississippi Rural Water.
Following the video, the commission moved and adopted the resolution by voice vote and commended local organizations and operators for their service.
