In the current 0.25.1 cycle staff brought nine revised policies and placed six on hold pending Department of Education rulemaking.
Parenteau described selected changes: Policy 3.50 now clarifies how campus security‑camera records relate to records requests; Policy 3.60 (flag display and pledge) was updated to reflect last year's legislative requirement to display portraits of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln (DOE rulemaking and legislative funding were noted); Policy 3.80 (volunteer reporting) adds compliance reporting requirements tied to privacy laws; Policy 3.401 would move initial trespass appeals to an internal administrative review to expedite decisions and lower external costs; Policy 4.18 clarifies an academic and career plan requirement for 8th graders; Policy 4.61 leverages recent legislation to allow certain internal assessments to be exempt from routine records disclosure; and staff proposed a new, comprehensive ADA/Section 504 framework to standardize accommodation and grievance procedures.
Board members asked clarifying questions about service animals and current campus usage; staff said there were occasional pet‑therapy animals and limited instances but recommended distinct procedures for students (IDEA/504), employees (ADA) and members of the public. The board did not vote on the policies and the cycle will continue through the district's policy process.
