Montgomery County police say consent-search app soft-launched Dec. 2; full-year data set due starting Jan. 1

Assistant Chief Frank told the Public Safety Committee the department's in-house consent-search application "went active on December 2" and that the release was intended as a soft launch to identify and correct bugs during December. He said officials expect a full calendar-year under the new process beginning Jan. 1 to yield comparable data for analysis.
Frank said the app was developed in-house using Power BI and that the department built an email-notification function so supervisors are alerted automatically when a consent search is logged. "What we're doing is...a soft launch just because whenever you launch an app, you expect there to be issues as you work through it," he said. Council members asked for screenshots and a live demonstration; several suggested the committee receive interim data checks at roughly six months and at one year to review trends and any needed adjustments.
