"I requested $35,000 for additional archery targets. Obviously, I don't think that's gonna be needed now with the grant, and then there was $5,000 I requested for lighting in the shop, and that was cut," the staff member said, and added that final approved numbers should be available at month-end as the commission finalizes the budget. Staff also said the commission has been discussing wages, which could affect staffing costs.
The chair said the board should explore alternate funding sources for the lighting line and noted LEDs are less expensive. "It makes a big difference when you can see what you're doing," the chair said, urging possible reallocations within the parks budget or alternate funding to restore the shop lighting.
Board members did not adopt a formal reallocation at the meeting but asked staff to identify potential funding options and to report final budget numbers once the commission completes its process.
