The Greenville City Council approved a number of procedural and action items in tonight's meeting, including scheduling public hearings, authorizing change orders, and approving property-easement purchases.
Council set the public hearing dates for the proposed FY2026–27 budget and the tax rate for Sept. 8, 2026 and directed staff to deliver the proposed budget at the Aug. 11 meeting. The council approved multiple construction change orders related to ongoing projects (including planting-material revisions, irrigation allowance conversion and facility carpet replacement) and approved ongoing professional-services contracts for water-plant PFAS pilot testing and feasibility studies. Staff also reported operational updates such as the sports/fitness center soft-opening tours.
After an executive session the council took several motions in open session. They moved to eliminate the associate municipal judge position and authorized the city manager to notify the current appointee; the transcript records the motion and a second. Council also authorized the purchase of a 1.413‑acre water-line easement for $30,000 for the Ridgecrest Road water-line project and a separate 1.233‑acre easement from Radix Realty LLC for $15,393; both easement purchases were moved, seconded and approved unanimously. The meeting adjourned following those votes.
