County to switch short-term rental system to OpenGov to reduce long-term costs

Community development staff presented an unbudgeted request to transition the county's short-term rental administration from GovOS to OpenGov. The director explained GovOS had been used for four years but OpenGov offers a simpler interface, improved admin functions and a lower long-term cost, though the first-year implementation will require a supplemental appropriation. "It will just give us a different provider and save the county quite a bit of money," the director said (Chris, Speaker 17).
Commissioners asked about implementation timing and legal review of the agreement; staff said implementation would begin October 1 and take 5–6 months. The board approved the transition and authorized the chair to sign all applicable documents. Staff noted there is no proposed increase to short-term rental fees as a result of the platform change.
