Commissioners debate how much public comment should appear in official minutes

The Grand County Board of County Commissioners approved amended minutes from March 24 but debated how much of public comment should be incorporated into the official record. One commissioner said the minutes should focus on Board business, not public remarks: "I think the purpose of the minutes is to reflect the business of the Board and particularly the business decisions made by the Board," (Speaker 1).
Members of the public and other commissioners urged more context in minutes so residents who cannot listen to recordings can understand how decisions were made. A public commenter asked the board to include at least the topic of public remarks because “no one's going to go back to the recordings and try to find something in the recordings,” (Speaker 9). Commissioners said they would consider the request and noted recordings will remain available for anyone who wants a fuller record.
