The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners on June 15 voted to approve and adopt an updated Probation Policy Manual after hearing an annual report from Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections representatives. Tammy Adkins of the department presented county juvenile justice statistics and said "probation and diversion success rates remain high," noting that Jefferson County's outcomes compare favorably with other counties.
Legal counsel reviewed the proposed manual and recommended approval with the caveat that one section related to bathroom use may need revision depending on pending state-law guidance. Commissioner Young moved to adopt the manual, Commissioner Clark seconded, and the motion passed on a roll-call vote with Chair Hancock joining the unanimous "aye" votes. The manual was adopted subject to any necessary future edits tied to state guidance.
