The Elbert County Board of County Commissioners approved several procedural motions by unanimous voice vote during its Aug. 3 special meeting. The board approved the meeting agenda, voted to convene as the County Board of Equalization, approved the hearing officer's recommendations for the 2026 tax appeals, closed the Board of Equalization session, and then adjourned. Each motion was moved and seconded and carried on an oral 'aye' vote recorded by the Chair.
One motion to approve the hearing officer's recommendations was introduced explicitly: “I move that we approve the hearing officer's recommendation for the 20 26 Board of Equalization tax appeals as presented in our packet,” the committee member said before the Chair called the vote. The transcript records three 'ayes' on the approvals and no recorded no votes or abstentions.
