Public commenter urges support for universal health care bills

"These are the bills we currently have proposed in the legislature... the top bills are a universal health care package, both the senate and, house bill, there's companion bills," Alemanno said, and she encouraged constituents to contact their representatives directly. She also criticized elected officials for being influenced by campaign financing, saying that moneyed interests make it difficult for some legislators to push for universal care.
Her remarks were delivered during the public-comment period and no formal council action followed; the mayor thanked her for speaking and the meeting proceeded to staff reports.
