The City Council approved a construction contract for the 2026 pavement-preservation project on June 17, awarding the work to Sierra Santa Fe for $414,351.18. Public Works Manager Mike Lund explained the project is a scrub-seal process followed by chip seal (and usually a fog seal), covering roughly 32 neighborhood roads and about 3.65 miles of pavement.
Lund said his initial engineer's estimate was significantly higher but both bids came in well below the estimate; Sierra Santa Fe was the low bidder. Council authorized the mayor to sign the contract and to approve change orders up to 10% of contract value. Lund told the council he may return with a request to upgrade the fog seal to an Onyx treatment that would increase the contract by about $160,000 but would also extend the life of the treatment and reduce maintenance costs.
