Lockeford board hears SGMA update; basin estimated at ~90,000 acre-feet deficit

Mike Henry presented an update from the East San Joaquin Groundwater Authority meetings and told the Lockeford board that the Authority's budget will be presented at the April board meeting and returned for approval in May. Henry asked that the Lockeford GSA Board meet in April to consider and approve the budget.
Henry also reported that the Oakdale Irrigation District and South San Joaquin Irrigation District intend to sell water outside the basin and "under the County's updated policy they must demonstrate that it will not result in adverse impacts." He said six grant-funded monitoring wells are being installed and that Zanjero has been contracted to obtain more reliable groundwater information. Henry reported "the basin is estimated to be in a deficit of approximately 90,000 acre-feet."
