Council authorizes materials purchase to add maintenance building to PERC project

City engineering introduced project coordinator Megan Wilson and described progress on the Poulsbo Events & Recreation Center (PERC) project and a plan to add a prepackaged maintenance and storage building. Josh Raines told council the city negotiated with the contractor and Romtek and expects a materials purchase that, including sales tax, "comes out to just over $192,000," while the underlying purchase price without tax is roughly $174,000, staff said.
The council approved a motion to authorize the mayor to sign a materials purchase and associated change order to incorporate the maintenance building into the PERC contract. Staff said the mayor has authority to sign the change order and that it would not routinely return to council unless further adjustments are needed. Council members welcomed Megan Wilson and noted the broader PERC progress, including the first concrete pour and conceptual amphitheater area.
